Yes. Parents create and manage the account and child profiles. You control what materials are uploaded and whether the AI uses only your materials or general knowledge. The companion also does not respond to questions outside the learning topic.
Any subject you add materials for: maths, languages, science, history, and more. The AI adapts how it teaches to the subject—Socratic for maths, corrective for languages, structured for knowledge subjects.
Most AI apps give you the answer or use generic internet knowledge. AskCrates uses only your uploaded materials, guides you to understand step by step, and builds quizzes, flashcards and progress tracking around your content—so you actually learn.

No. Your uploaded materials are used only to power your own learning experience. We do not use your content to train or improve our or any third-party AI models.
For each child you can choose whether the companion uses only your uploaded materials or can also use general knowledge. Either way, the companion does not respond to non–subject-related questions—so the conversation stays focused on learning.
General AI chats give direct answers and aren’t built for curriculum or progress. AskCrates is built for learning: it uses your materials, leads to the answer step-by-step, and adds quizzes, flashcards and a plan—with you in control.
AskCrates works for primary and secondary school, and beyond. The companion adapts to the subject and your materials—so it fits whether your child is learning times tables or preparing for exams.
You can upload PDFs, images (e.g. photos of notes or worksheets), and we support common document formats. The AI reads and uses your content to guide learning, quiz and plan.
Yes. Companion apps for Android and iOS are coming. You can also use AskCrates directly in the browser on mobile devices.
You can upload materials in any language—the Socratic Learning Companion responds in the language you choose. Your child can ask about the material in their own language and get answers in that language, even if the uploaded notes or materials are in another. That’s especially important for expat families: school materials might be in the local language while your child is more comfortable in their home language. The app interface is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
You set an exam or goal date and add your materials. The AI estimates how much time you need and builds a day-by-day plan with sessions. If you fall behind or move faster, the plan adjusts.

Your materials and data are processed in secure cloud infrastructure in Switzerland. Original uploaded files are transient: they are deleted immediately after chunking/vectoring, with an automated forced-cleanup safety net within 7 days only if immediate deletion should fail. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
They’re generated from your uploaded materials by the AI, so they match your notes, materials and curriculum. Each subject’s didactic profile (e.g. Socratic for maths) shapes how questions and exercises are phrased.
Original uploaded files are transient. After processing into chunks and vectors, they are deleted immediately. A forced cleanup safety net also runs within 7 days only if immediate deletion should fail. Only derived retrieval data needed for learning remains until you delete related content or your account.
