🛡️ Safe AI for our children👨‍👩‍👧 Parents in full control⚡ Step-by-step, not copy-paste

Learning for the whole family at less than the cost of a coffee a week.

Why most AI learning apps fail students

They give answers on a silver platter and aren't built for safe use with our kids. AskCrates is different.

Why AskCrates?

You want your child to really learn—and you want AI that's safe and under your control. Here’s how we’re different.

Generic AI chats

Instant answers from the internet—but no link to your child’s notes, and no way for you to see or control what’s happening.

Typical study apps

Often just one piece: flashcards or quizzes. They don’t use your materials, don’t build a full plan, and rarely combine tutoring with progress you can trust.

Learning from notes alone

When something’s unclear, there’s no one to ask—no summary, no other explanation. Our AI tutor fills that gap, grounded in your own materials.

AskCrates

Your materials, a tutor that leads to the answer step-by-step, quizzes and flashcards, and a plan that adapts to the exam. Parents in full control. Built for safe, responsible AI use with our children.

Required for All Children

Built for safe, responsible AI use with our children.

The only AI tutor designed so our kids can learn with AI while parents stay in full control: verifiable parental consent, per-child controls, and a tutor that leads to the answer instead of handing it over.

Parental Consent Required

AskCrates requires verifiable parental consent before any child under 18 can use our services. Parents give consent by creating and managing child accounts. This ensures compliance with COPPA (US), GDPR (EU/UK), LGPD (Brazil), and PIPEDA (Canada).

  • 1. Adult Verification: Parent creates account and verifies identity with a refundable $1 payment
  • 2. Child Account Creation: Parent creates and manages child profile with full control over settings

Verified adults only

Every AskCrates account starts as an adult account. We use a refundable $1 payment to verify that a real adult is behind it – and refund it immediately.

Parent dashboard & child accounts

Parents stay in full control: they create child accounts, control material uploads per child, and choose whether the AI uses only your materials or general knowledge. When restricted, the AI Tutor does not use general knowledge when responding to your child; only your uploaded materials are used.

Most AI apps give answers on a silver platter and aren’t built for safe use with our kids. AskCrates is built for safe, responsible AI learning for our children—your materials, you’re in control, and the tutor leads to the answer instead of handing it over.

Step 1
1 / 7

Create your account

Sign up and verify your identity with a simple, instantly refunded Stripe payment. Only verified adults can create accounts and add children – safety is built in from the start.

Identity verification · Adults-only account creation · Children always protected

Step 2
2 / 7

Add child accounts

Create managed profiles for each child. You decide what they can upload, whether the AI uses general knowledge or only your materials, and you see everything they do.

Upload controls · AI scope per child · Full visibility

Step 3
3 / 7

Organize by subjects & didactic profiles

Create subjects like Maths, German, Biology. Each subject gets a didactic profile – auto-detected or your choice – that shapes how everything is taught.

Socratic for math · Corrective for languages · Structured for knowledge

Step 4
4 / 7

Upload materials in any language

Add PDFs, images and notes. The AI reads and understands your materials – in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish – and builds a private knowledge base for your account only. Only you (and linked parents for child accounts) can access it.

Uses your notes and subject materials – not the open internet

Step 5
5 / 7

Generate an adaptive learning plan

Enter your exam date. The AI analyses complexity, estimates time, and creates a personalised plan with daily sessions – all shaped by the subject's pedagogical loop.

Works backwards from your exam · Feasibility check built in

Step 6
6 / 7

Learn in daily sessions

Engage with your materials by asking the AI tutor questions—explanations stay grounded in what you uploaded. Each session also brings quizzes, flashcards and exercises, all adapted to the didactic profile and your content. If you struggle, the plan slows down; if you excel, it accelerates.

Hints and questions, never the answer

Step 7
7 / 7

Achieve real results

Track mastery across every subject and objective. See where you're confident and where to focus. Arrive at your exam prepared – because you actually understood the material.

Progress analytics · Exam countdown · 6 platforms

One place instead of the guesswork

Faster than guessing what to learn next—or which app to use. One system: your materials, your plan, your progress.

Like a tutor, quizzer, flashcard app and study planner — in one.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about AskCrates.

Yes. Parents create and verify the account; only verified adults can add child profiles. You control what materials are uploaded and whether the AI uses only your materials or general knowledge.

Any subject you add materials for: maths, languages, science, history, and more. The AI adapts how it teaches to the subject—Socratic for maths, corrective for languages, structured for knowledge subjects.

Most AI apps give you the answer or use generic internet knowledge. AskCrates uses only your uploaded materials, guides you to understand step by step, and builds quizzes, flashcards and progress tracking around your content—so you actually learn.

Less than the cost of a coffee a week for the whole family. There is a free tier; Pro unlocks unlimited plans and deeper analytics. We aim to keep it below one tutoring session per month.

No. Your uploaded materials are used only to power your own learning experience. We do not use your content to train or improve our or any third-party AI models.

You decide. For each child you can choose whether the tutor uses only your uploaded materials or can also use general knowledge. Either way, the tutor does not respond to non–subject-related questions—so the conversation stays focused on learning.

General AI chats give direct answers and aren’t built for curriculum or progress. AskCrates is built for learning: it uses your materials, leads to the answer step-by-step, and adds quizzes, flashcards and a plan—with you in control.

AskCrates works for primary and secondary school, and beyond. The tutor adapts to the subject and your materials—so it fits whether your child is learning times tables or preparing for exams.

You can upload PDFs, images (e.g. photos of notes or worksheets), and we support common document formats. The AI reads and uses your content to tutor, quiz and plan.

Yes. Companion apps for Android and iOS are coming. You can also use AskCrates directly in the browser on mobile devices.

You can upload materials in any language—the AI Tutor responds in the language you choose. Your child can ask about the material in their own language and get answers in that language, even if the uploaded notes or materials are in another. That’s especially important for expat families: school materials might be in the local language while your child is more comfortable in their home language. The app interface is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

You set an exam or goal date and add your materials. The AI estimates how much time you need and builds a day-by-day plan with sessions. If you fall behind or move faster, the plan adjusts.

Yes. There is a free tier so you can create a plan, use the tutor, and try quizzes and flashcards. Pro unlocks unlimited plans and deeper analytics when you’re ready.

Your materials and data are processed and stored in secure, reputable cloud infrastructure in Switzerland. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

They’re generated from your uploaded materials by the AI, so they match your notes, materials and curriculum. Each subject’s didactic profile (e.g. Socratic for maths) shapes how questions are phrased.
